Neil Rose
We have just learnt that Neil Rose has passed way.
Neil was well known as a volunteer signalman and contributor in many ways to “The Tenterden Terrier” magazine, Neil was also a founder member of TTT, Chairman of The Norwegian Trust and produced a booklet jointly with Stephen Garrett on the history of Terrier No.50/K&ESR No.10 “Whitechapel”/”Sutton” to mark its centenary in 1976.
TTT Chair Tom White has issued the following communiqué:
“Neil Rose, who died suddenly on 12 May 2009, was a member of The Terrier Trust, chairman of the Norwegian Loco Trust and a long-serving volunteer on the KESR.
“I have known Neil for many years as we met when we both worked at the Bank of England. Neil introduced me to the KESR when my growing family precluded frequent weekends away to volunteer at the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway.
“I saw him most recently a couple of weeks ago when my wife and I spent a delightful day with him and his wife on the KESR Ashford Group's trip to the Baie de Somme's Fete de la Vapeur.
“Neil was a very good friend and he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with Alison and family.”
A report on the recent May Gala will be duly posted as in the Articles section and a Gallery of pictures is being collated.
In the meantime the picture alongside of 32678 with a mixed train approaching Northiam on the 10.50 from Bodiam of 4th May 2009 is dedicated to the memory of Neil Rose.
