32678 mixed 22 3 10 Alan CrottySaturday October 13 will probably be the last opportunity to see the 1880 veteran in action on the K&ESR in 2018.  The diminutive loco will head a mixed train made up of passenger coaches and goods wagons departing from Tenterden Town Station at 11.30, 1.45 and 4.00pm.

32678 is no stranger to "The Mixed", such workings were a feature of the K&ESR prior to preservation when they were frequently run as a cost-saving measure and 32678 frequently hauled them when on hire from the Southern Railway in the 1940s or the brief period when the line was run by Britsh Railways in the 1950s.

The distinctive trains are just part of a treat for transport enthusiasts at the K&ESR on 13 and 14 October. There will be a display of around 30 Classic Cars at Tenterden Town Station on Saturday and more than 60 vehicles on Sunday 14 as the line welcomes the Austin Counties Car Club.  The award-winning Colonel Stephens Railway Museum will be open throughout the weekend and 32678 will be joined in action on Saturday by Hunslet "Austerity" No 25 "Northiam and the line's Heritage Diesel Observation Train.  For further details and full timetable see the Kent & East Sussex Railway website.
