Other Terriers
"Martello" is back
“Martello”, regarded in its day as one of the very best Terriers in service, and a member of the third batch constructed, has been returned to service at Bressingham Steam and Gardens in Norfolk.
Last seen in action on the K&ESR in black as 32662 for the 50th anniversary of its operation, with 32670, on the very last passenger special, “Martello” has been repainted in Southern livery as B662. Many photographs exist of the engine, but what is unusual is that her Isle of Wight bunker is completely “false”; it was acquired from 32677 when that engine was scrapped by British Rail.
K&ESR Trustee and TTT CIO member Ian Legg was able to attend her formal recommissioning on Saturday 29th April and has kindly supplied these photographs.
